Wireless systems are becoming better, cheaper, faster, and easier to use and install. The term wireless however does not mean without wires, rather it means less wires.

Professionals can do this work for you. However, this can turn out to be very expensive to make the whole house wireless. In particular, today’s wireless home theatre systems primarily focus around the use of wireless speakers systems to eliminate trailing speaker wires around the room perimeter when installing rear speakers in a surround sound setup. Just set up a wireless digital media player and you will be able to use your existing TV or home entertainment system to play digital audio and video files. Media players come with a remote control and an intuitive on-screen menu for easy access of digital content through your TV screen.

There are already several products on the market with wireless support – including set-top boxes, wireless speakers systems, media players. Wireless digital media players represent a great solution in home entertainment. For less than $300, it is possible to get access to video, photo and music files from anywhere within the home network. Still today there is no complete wireless solution launched to give a link to audio and video systems but yet we dream for that someday.

We had heard that certain Mitsubishi representatives had been telling Diamond dealers that production had been suspended on the outfit’s flagship LaserVue HDTV, and sure enough, the story is true. We have confirmed with Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America that the outfit has “temporarily suspended production of LaserVue televisions due to a problem with manufacturing equipment used to produce LaserVue TVs.” We’re also informed that “Mitsubishi Electric engineers are taking the necessary action to ensure that the company resumes production as quickly as possible, while maintaining the highest standards for product quality and reliability.” So far as we know, this isn’t a sign of sudden discontinuation, as Mitsu has affirmed that it’s “expecting production to resume in early 2009.” We’ll update with more as we get it in.

Update: We asked a few followup questions, and we did find that Mitsu isn’t anticipating any supply issues, which indicates the problem may be short lived (or at least it hopes so). As for an official comment on what went wrong? “LaserVue production was suspended due to a manufacturing equipment issue.” That’s all we’ve got.

[Thanks, Chuck]

Sound & Vision has a rather interesting article up about the ten films that it most wants to see released on Blu-ray, and while we concur with the most of ‘em, we’re interested to see what you readers think as well. Before delving into your fanboy-ish desires, however, it’s important to note that past popularity isn’t necessarily a sign that a particular movie will be re-released on BD. As we’ve learned before, there are quite a few variables that studios take into consideration outside of just public perception. We’re tempted to blurt out all ten right here for discussion, but we know how disgruntled some of you folks get when spoilers are sprung on you.

For China, the magic year looks to be 2015. Professor Huang Yong, the deputy editor-in-chief of China’s State Administration of Radio, Film and Television, recently stated that program production would be “turned from analog to digital” seven years from now, though he didn’t say what kind of technology would be used for digital broadcasting. Knowing China, though, it’ll cook up something the rest of the globe has no interest in for the sake of saving on licensing fees.

Panasonic’s HDC-HS300 was unleashed amidst a flurry of other camcorders at CES this year, but according to Trusted Reviews, it won’t be hiding under the shadows of everyone else for long. Rather than bogging you down with details, we’ll just get right to the punch — critics didn’t hesitate to suggest that this “could well be the best [consumer] camcorder released all year.” The most important aspect (yes, we’re talking about image quality) was said to be “nothing short of stunning in virtually all conditions,” and low light performance was deemed “particularly amazing.” There were plenty of outputs, a swank touchscreen LCD and a very impressive cross-shaped array of microphones that could record 5.1 audio. Add all that up, and you’ve got a real winner; in fact, these guys suggested that even Canon’s stellar line of VIXIA camcorders should watch closely, ’cause the HS300 is stepping all up in that rarefied air.

Man, talk about being loved. The citizens of Madison, Wisconsin are indeed loved… at least by programming providers. Not too terribly long after Charter added in a half dozen HD channels to its lineup in the area — and just weeks after DISH Network finally delivered HD locals to Badgerville — along comes official word from AT&T that U-verse is also ready for consumption. Select Madison-area residents can now opt for AT&T’s fiber-based TV, high-speed internet and digital phone services, and given that the provider just boosted its HD count by 30 (for free), today seems like an excellent day to mull a switch. If you’re parked in Beloit, Fitchburg, Janesville, Madison, Maple Bluff, Middleton, Monona or Shorewood Hills (among other South Central Wisconsin communities), feel free to give AT&T a call and see if it’s available at your domicile.

Hot on the heels of TWC’s Greensboro expansion announcement comes some official word from the carrier itself on how it’ll be handling new HD rollouts in the Carolinas at large. For starters, many Raleigh-area customers received an e-mail proclaiming that 20 new high-def stations would be coming soon, though it mistakenly claims ESPN2 HD as a newcomer. At any rate, the director of digital communication at Time Warner Cable chimed in to clear things up, noting that the company is “rolling out up to 20 HD channels over the next several months, depending on the division.” From the looks of things, Raleigh and Charlotte will be getting just about everything TWC has, while Greensboro, NC and Columbia, SC will receive smaller allotments. Curiously enough, the Wilmington area wasn’t mentioned at all, but here’s hoping they’ll be on the same wave as Raleigh. For the full report from Jeff Simmermon, jump on past the break. [Disclosure: Engadget is part of the Time Warner family]

Yes, Aussies — in mere months, you’ll have the pleasure of enjoying a free-to-air 24-hour sports channel in glorious high-definition. For those not paying attention, you should also know that Ten has thrown down winning bids to show US NBA basketball, US Major League Baseball and the US Open golf tournament (among other events). There’s no set time frame for launch outside of sometime in ‘09, but worst case scenario, you’ve got just over 13 months to wait.

Rather than separating out all the international high-definition news throughout the past seven days, we figured it prudent to round up the best of the best each week and deliver it in one concise, easy to find location: right here! This week, we find that Sky has landed rights to ten Bond films in high-def, Virgin Media’s V+ box will support MPEG-4, EchoStar Europe has debuted the snazzy DBS-7100HD high-def set-top-box and that Virgin’s Setanta Replay TV service has taken off. Check the links below for all the details.

It’s a lazy week in FiOS TV land, with just two relatively small snippets to discuss. Well, unless you live in Amherst, New York or Hanover, Massachusetts. The former city managed to land its very own FiOS store where prospective buyers can meander in, test drive the fiber-based TV service and get setup in one fell swoop. As for the latter, you’ve probably already guessed (correctly, might we add) that The Bay State has claimed yet another FiOS TV town, with thousands of residents in Hanover now able to order up the service. Seriously, the Verizon-Massachusetts love fest has to stop. It just has to.

It was inevitable, really. Whatever the evening news anchor does, so must everyone else, right? Regardless of the answer to that inquiry, a new report has found that cosmetics once reserved for making on-screen celebrities look their best in high-definition are now finding their way into caboodles of everyday Earthlings. Even generic makeup outlets such as Sephora are now offering up a variety of HD makeup to folks who will never, ever see their face on the tube. HD makeup, which stands out by including particles that reflect light rather than absorb it, seems to be the latest trend in the highly volatile makeup industry, though some experts are questioning the need for Sam and Sally to go to such extremes. Pish-posh, we say — they’re just preparing for their big break on Super Hi-Vision.
